The THIRD PARTY COVERING programme is intended to provide breeders of Spanish thoroughbreds with a service allowing them to cover their mares with stallions from the Yeguada de la Cartuja - Hierro del Bocado stud. The covering service will be provided on third party facilities organised for the event.

Period
The covering season will take place from January this year to the end of August and can be adapted to the specific needs of particular breeders.
ACCEPTANCE OF APPLICATIONS
In evaluating and deciding on requests, the order of receipt will be respected. If the application is accepted, a service provision contract will be formalised between EXPASA and the breeders, the conditions of which will reflect the basic content of these regulations. Preference will be given to breeder associations and groups although individual requests will be dealt with, if demand is limited. Before formalising the contract, breeders can visit the facilities at the stud and put their questions about the programme to the technical personnel. These visits will be organised subject to prior booking by the stud's Services department.
The Technical Services department at the stud may request further information on the mares to be covered, if it considers this necessary.
STALLIONS
To receive information on the specimens available for the natural mounting programme, telephone the stud.
The stud's technical services department reserves the decision to remove any stallion from the Third Party Covering Programme. Any outcome of this nature should be notified to the affected breeders so that a replacement can be decided upon.
SERVICE PROVISION
Groups or associations of breeders can request service provision from EXPASA. The sanitary and service guarantees at the established site must be determined by the Technical Services Department of the Yeguada de la Cartuja stud. These must also be supervised by a professionally recognised veterinarian.
CERTIFICATE OF COVERING
After 3 months from covering and provided the pregnancy has gone smoothly, EXPASA will issue an official Certificate of Covering.
The final date for issuing the certificate is 30 November of the current year.
After this date, the corresponding certificate will not be issued, regardless of the mare's state of pregnancy.
INFORMATION ON PREGNANCY AND FOALING
Breeders will notify Technical Services at the stud of any incident arising during gestation and the result of the foaling. Furthermore, to monitor the development of the offspring, the breeders authorise visits by the personnel of these services.
PRICES
The price for each covered mare is €650.00 (VAT not included) Generally, there will be at least TWELVE and FIFTEEN mares per stud. However, the total number will be determined based on the time taken to provide the service and the stallions themselves.
This price at no time includes clinical and veterinary costs, accommodation or any other cost needed for the covering.
Breeders will be responsible for transport costs for delivering and removing animals and life/accident insurance for both the stallion and the mare and, if appropriate, the foal. Taking out insurance is optional for mares and foals belonging to the breeder, but mandatory for stallions belonging to the stud. Without this requirement no stallion will be transferred from the stud. The assessment of stallions for insurance purposes will at all times be carried out by the stud's services department.
Mares with a history of illness will not be used and may be substituted by an alternative mare.
The stallions will be used exclusively for the organised activity with breeders and veterinarians of the corresponding centres required to care for and attend the animals and also not to move them without EXPASA's consent.
PAYMENT
Payment for the fixed components will be made in advance, with the issue of the corresponding invoice including VAT. Payment will be by bank transfer to the current account indicated.
The variable component will be paid subject to the conditions set out by the organising centre.
RESERVATION OF RIGHTS
The YEGUADA DE LA CARTUJA - HIERRO DEL BOCADO stud at all times reserves the right to suspend or modify the present rules and conditions. Requests will therefore be understood to be subject to rules and conditions valid at the time.
